Artist Statement

I aim to create content within activist paradigms of open innovation as a pathway for collaboration and negotiation of the value of emerging technologies in bottom-up dimensions of co-creation. Each video of mine is an experiment or a prototype, a way to materialize visions for the future, catalyze creativity and quickly generate new avenues of expansion of reality. Writing and performing are very different mediums and the material manifestation of an idea, a video or a prototype can be more eloquent than words.

Growing up in a world of constant surveillance and ubiquitous computing brings out an ongoing interest in privacy protection, automation, artificial intelligence, and legal grey areas in the spontaneous retaking of control over our realities, among which methods of recycling and repurposing of technologies to either augment our senses or to temporarily disappear from the grid.

I am evidently inspired by power imbalances and ethics, the inefficiency of our justice systems, and fundamental human rights online, and in particular new justice and conflict resolution models implementation on Web 3.0. What is it going to take for problems to be resolved at the speed they are caused, instantly that is?

I believe in coherence but I also believe in quantum dynamics and I have come to notice that some things, places, and people are transformed - or tend to shape-shift - when they are enveloped in focused attention. Observing something long enough causes an object of attention to change and expand, but the process may reveal contradictions. Yet, certain apparent discrepancies in life can be reconciled if you look at them from a different angle, you may find they have things in common. These small inconsistencies and reconcilable discrepancies are what fascinates me. They guide me in my work and train my intuition.

To center myself into my own physical and intellectual coherence and continuity, I do certain analytical exercises (logic yoga) and dance tutorials in the morning, long enough to center my mind and body and remember who I am after many hours of dreaming through the subconscious multiverse. Dreams are the basis of prophetic surrealism and even when we don’t remember them consciously, or do but cannot understand them, they seem to provide answers to questions we formulate consciously.

I also feel something like a strong nostalgia for the future, so I maintain a healthy interest in engineering. In that regard, one of my latest inspirations are processes of nature as the foundation of creation and the primordial “intellectual property”, from horticulture to organic chemistry, nature is the source of all science. I have come to believe that we as humans are at best copycats of God’s IP.
